Description
A very rare and attractive pair of Victorian gothic or church style candlesticks. These have knopped steams with several layers of banding together with plain round drip trays. The stand-out feature is the decorative pierced faceted dodecagonal type pieces towards the middle each upright - a very gothic feature, regularly seen in the designs of Pugin. These items stand upon integral round stepped bases. These are a good size, standing about 9.75 inches (24.8 cm) tall and 3.9 inches (10 cm) in diameter across the base. There is a very slight height discrepancy between these items, but not very noticeable when they are displayed separated, as is usual. The candlesticks are in good condition, with an as yet unpolished patina, but are ready to display as is. They are also of a heavy weight. These would make an ideal and unusual addition to any collection of antique church or gothic items, and, of course ideal for the coming festive season..
