Suit of Armour, Medieval Knight Figure, Maltese Tin from Valletta

An interesting decorative miniature suit of armour, medieval knight figure with set upon a round wooden base. The piece has nice detailing to the armour, with a Maltese cross impressed into the breastplate. The representation of the armour is quite detailed and accurate in comparison with some other model figures of knights. The item is formed from sheet tin with the detail impressed from the reverse. None of the pieces of the armour are articulated. It proabably origianlly also has a shield, sword and halber. Now the sword scabbard remains. Made for visitors, these suits are based on the full-sized suits of armour in the Grand Master's Palace at the centre of the walled city of Valetta. This would make an ideal and unusual item for any collector of antique militaria, gothic or medieval type items. it might also suit anyone interested in medieval history.
