18th Century Italian Console Table From Tuscany

A fine Italian giltwood console table, Tuscany, second quarter of 18th century, serpentine-fronted, white-veined green cipollino marble top with rounded corners, a pierced foliate scrolling frieze with medallion with a female, above S-shaped legs with dragon masks and X-shaped stretcher. Literature: A closely related Florentine Console Table executed in the second quarter of the 18th century, now in the Appartamento degli Arazzi, prima sala, Palazzo Pitti, Florence, is thought to be part of a suite of six console tables carved ‘con festoni, fogliami, medaglioni e maschere’ executed by Florentine carvers and retailed to the Court by the tapezziere Gaetano Seti circa 1750. Augustus Brandt Antiques has clarified that the 18th Century Italian Console Table From Tuscany (LA203329) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being Circa 1725-1750
The central portrait medallion possibly of later date. The frieze to the right-hand side of the table has been restored. Generally in excellent condition.
