A charming late 18th century pottery figure of a cockerel with a Whieldon type creamware glaze. Moulded feather detail to the body, wings and tail, eyes, comb and wattles, with a hollow base, c.1770.
It measures 10.5cm (4 1/8") high, 9cm (3 1/2") long and 4.2cm (1 5/8") wide.
The Fancy Fox has clarified that the 18th Century Whieldon Type Creamware Figure of a Cockerel / Chicken (LA317270) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1770
Condition is very good: there is a small frit to his beak and a tiny glaze flake to the base. No other damage or restoration. There are a couple of firing cracks on one side, a slight misalignment of the 2 sides of the beak and head which is unglazed and a small unglazed area to the tail on one side.
