Description
A very fine and desirable 18th Century First Period Worcester Porcelain Gugglet or Water Bottle. It is pear shaped with a slender knopped neck below the top rim. Printed in underglaze blue on white in the Pine Cone pattern. Crescent Marked on the base. In excellent condition with no chips cracks or restoration and with clear image. A gugglet is an earthenware or porcelain vessel, often pear-shaped, used for storing and keeping water cool in hot climates through evaporative cooling, and it's famously associated with antique Worcester porcelain. The name might come from the gurgling sound the water makes when poured or the Portuguese word gorgoleta
