Description
Tortoise shell, ebony and hallmarked silver walking stick or cane. The pattern of the tortoiseshell looks perfect with a dark line along the top, I'm going to say it's faux shell although it may be genuine.
The silver was assayed in Birmingham as shown in the pictures, date letter for 1912
and makers mark for Jonathan Howell.
Well figured T bar style handle that is comfortable to hold mounted on a beautiful ebony wood shaft. Quite fine at the base but strong being ebony.
Silver collar is plain with a pinned seam to look like a buckle the hallmark and makers marks as embellishment and the initials GLA engraved to the front.
The ferrule is original and made of brass and steel which shows little sign of wear.
