Lovely Malacca wood and silver walking stick or cane. The makers mark for James Smith & Sons of New Oxford Street London is stamped into the top. No hallmark but it tests as 925 silver and the makers mark dates it to around 1910 to 1920. Lovely decoration to the silver top. Hand beaten to give this dimpled effect. The initials CK are engraved into the top of the silver pommel The ferrule is original and made of polished deer antler. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
It measures 92.7 cm 36 1/2 inches in length, the pommel is 3 cm 1 1/4 inches wide and 4.8 cm 1 7/8 inches tall.
Shires Antiques has clarified that the 1920s Walking Stick Cane Solid Silver Pommel Malacca Wood Shaft (LA75246) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1920
It's in excellent condition but with some signs of age and use as you'd expect at this age. Some bumps, scratches and pitting to the silver as shown.
