Description
The watch has a Swiss signed seven jewel stem-winding movement, Cyma calibre 949, which is working nicely.
Cyma was founded by two brothers, Joseph and Theodore Schwob, in 1862. In 1892 they decided to go into partnership with Frédéric Henri Sandoz, owner of Henri Sandoz et Cie. The Cyma name was officially registered in 1903. Sandoz used the most modern of manufacturing processes and produced very high quality time-pieces, trademarked as Tavannes, Cyma and Cyma Tavannes. Their excellent reputation for quality meant that by 1910, Tavannes / Cyma were one of the largest Swiss watch manufacturers in existence. State, or Stayte, was one of the brand names used by the company.
The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and is hallmarked inside the case back for Birmingham 1935, together with the case mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company, a British manufacturer of cases for various watch makers. The case has light surface marks and a mild unevenness to the back.
The acrylic lens is in good condition (some white reflection showing in the photos).
The signed dial has a short faint hairline crack at 11 but otherwise it is in nice condition. Original blued steel hands.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.
We are a Vat registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.
Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
