1943 Waltham Decimal Military Timer Stop Watch

The watch has a nine-jewel stem-winding movement, stamped 16 ’43-TC, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner cover which has a slight indentation. The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is chromium plated. It has the military arrow to the back. There is some rubbing to the plated finish. The acrylic lens is in good condition. The signed dial has its original hands and a subsidiary dial which records up to 30 minutes. The stop watch would have been issued to British military forces. Unlike a conventional stopwatch, the dial is calibrated into 100 decimal divisions rather than the standard 60-second minute. This type of timing instrument would have been particularly useful for military logistics, time-and-motion studies, and industrial engineering, where precise measurement and decimalised timing were advantageous.
