1966 / 1967 Omega Seamaster 300 Wristwatch
This is a 1966/67 Omega Seamaster 300. A stainless steel case with twister 'bombe' shaped lugs, crown protector and bi-directional rotating bezel with 10 minute markers. Case ref 165.024 - 64, manufactured by Huguenin Freres for Omega. Case back stamped with the Hippocampus logo and 'certified high pressure waterproof'. A caliber 552 automatic 24 jewel mechanism by Omega. A black dial with original lume applied at every hour marker and on each hand, covered by an original Omega glass. The Seamaster 300 was one of Omegas original 'Master' trio of purpose built wristwatches, along with the Speedmaster and Railmaster. The Seamaster 300 was designed for use by scuba divers and was built to withstand high levels of water pressure for extended periods of time. The second generation Seamaster 300's, such as this watch were generally more popular than the originals and were even used by Jacques Cousteau and briefly by the British military. The caliber 552 mechanism is regarded as one of Omega's best and most reliable, making this watch overall an excellent example of Omegas capabilities.
