Description
We have for sale the perfect gift, a truly stunning and quite hard to find Carven, Paris goldtone, silvertone and Rhinstone Scottie dog brooch dating to the 1970s/early 1980s. This truly beautiful piece of jewellery combines texturing and graded gilding to create a truly stunning three dimensional Scotty dog brooch finished with a lovely Rhinestone encrusted silvertone neckerchief. The Brooch is equipped with an excellent rollover fastening and carries a numbered (1898) Carven mark to the back. The brooch is approximately 2 inches (5cm high) and is in a very good to excellent condition. The world renowned Paris fashion house Carven was established in 1945 by Carmen de Tomasso, aka Marie-Louise Carven (Madame Carven), at the Rond Pont des Champs-Elysses. She was a small women, who being small herself designed clothes for the petite lady. Madam Carved was not only a designer but a collector of fine antiques, which she used to richly furnish her salon claiming that "she loved to be surrounded by beauty". In 1968 Madam Carven started to manufacture her own line of jewellery to complement her clothing lines. Carven jewellery was exquisitely hand made and pieces were often numbered. The manufacture of Carven Jewellery ceased soon after Madam Carven's retirement in 1993, and because of only being in production for a short period of time, good examples of Carven jewellery are quite rare and consequently in high demand. Carven is still a leading Paris fashion house.
