19th Century Electoral Reform Commemorative Jug

An early 19th century Staffordshire puce transfer printed political commemorative jug, referencing the Parliamentary Reform Bill of 1832, also known as the Great Reform Act. This addressed the issue of "rotten boroughs" parliamentary seats with small numbers of voters which were disproportionately represented in parliament. There are two scenes on the jug "The Old Rotten Tree" featuring Whig leaders taking the axe of reform to the rotten borough system and "Constitution Hill" featuring William IV waving his hat and Queen Adelaide.
