This is a very good quality antique Brass Fire Fender. 19th Century.
It is made of fretwork sheet brass, and has curved ends, a rolled top and ogee shape base rim. It stands on a continuous brass floor rim with 5 paw feet.
Excellent condition without damage or dents.
The holes in the 2 curved sides were for screws which held small brackets to take fire arm rests. These are now long gone.

Internal measurements (for sitting around a hearth) 137.5 wide, 23 cm deep
