Heritage & Craftsmanship
This impressive Italian Baroque centre table dates to the 19th century and is crafted from European walnut. The rectangular frame is richly carved, with four shields set among scrolling ornament, and a central stretcher adorned with a bold clam shell motif. The table stands on substantial lion paw feet, a hallmark of grandeur in Baroque design.
The top is fitted with a later replacement in Pink Salome marble - a stone prized for its distinctive pink, violet, lilac, and grey tones with prominent veining. The marble is raised and finished with a bevelled edge, adding both texture and refinement to the composition.
Visual Details
The walnut base has been stripped to reveal the natural warmth of the timber, allowing the crispness of the carving to stand out. The shields and scrolls are deeply modelled, while the clam shell stretcher provides a strong focal point. The marble’s veining creates a striking contrast against the golden‑brown wood, making the table as much a work of art as a functional piece of furniture.
