Offered for sale is a 19th Century, Ironstone ‘Pekin Stone China’ rectangular plate with a raised rim. An Imari pattern possibly made by Enoch Wood & Sons of Burslem, Staffordshire c1840s. It is decorated with a blue transfer pattern that has been hand coloured and decorated in an attractive chinoiserie design of exotic oriental looking flowers in gilded dark blue, orange and brick red against a white ground, a small butterfly hovers over them. The central panel is bordered with an abstract oriental style blue frame. The rim of the plate is decorated with stylised chrysanthemums in the same palette. The pattern is called 'Pekin' and the backstamp shows the pattern name but not the maker. However, after comparing this mark with various other makers, this is very similar to marks used by Enoch Wood and Sons.
Verdi Art & Antiques has clarified that the 19th Century, "Pekin Stone China" Ironstone Plate (LA339109) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 19th Century
Excellent condition, no cracks, however, there is some age related nibbling/wear, but no more than you would expect. (see photo's)
