Debenham Antiques Ltd
Flag of United KingdomSuffolk, UK
Our business is based in the beautiful village of Debenham in Suffolk, England, which is close to Constable country. I take our pride in being the 4th generation in my family to be antique dealers who have been buying and selling antiques for over a century. With our expanding web presence in the UK, we also have a base in the USA with Debenham Antiques inc. Along with expanding our international web based business, we also quite unusually retain our high street presence, with a large retail shop which we use to display our finest goods, and to offer the client a more personal service for the those who like to discuss their needs. Here at Debenham Antiques we try to cater for all styles and tastes, and we believe this is reflected in our stock as you can find anything from 15th century carvings to late 20th century fine quality furniture. We have experts in furniture and paintings who buy our goods with safe knowledge. We also offer a wide range of fine quality reproduction furniture which is all lovingly handcrafted by ourselves locally, using the best timbers. Debenham Antiques works hard to ensure that we provide the client with a quality experience from start to finish. All our buying, photography, restoration, polishing and shipping is carried out in house by our dedicated team of staff. This we feel allows us to be in control from start to finish, which only benefits our customers.

Description
We are pleased to offer this 19th Century (c.1835) William IV mahogany library desk / table in it's original patina. Writing surface showcases the beautiful grain in the timber and the slightly contrasting cross banded border. Rounded corners with reeded detailing around the top edge. Reeded detailing is continued in a cartouche shape on each corner with ebonised moulded detail in between. It has 3 drawers above the knee, fitted with replaced ornate brass handles and ebonised moulding. It has dummy drawers to the reverse, making this desk free standing. Raised on a pair of scrolled supports and splayed carved legs, united by a turned stretcher and finished with brass castors. Fine quality piece and much has been done to maintain it's original patina and condition. It has surface marks to woodwork. Replaced handles which would of been a change of fashion choice. It has been recently re-polished by hand in our workshop.
