A fine 19th century English broad arm Windsor chair, beautifully constructed in yew and elm with pleasing colour and patination throughout. The chair features a hooped back with slender spindles flanking a distinctive pierced central splat, above a shaped solid elm seat with gently worn surface commensurate with age and use. The well-shaped broad arms are supported by turned baluster arm supports, offering both comfort and strong visual presence. Raised on turned legs united by a robust H-stretcher, this Windsor chair displays excellent proportions and honest country character. A highly decorative and functional piece, ideal for use as a desk, hall, or occasional chair.
