This is a long antique hunting whip. An English, leather and silver collared equestrian accessory by Swaine & Adeney of London, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920. Superb equestrian interest, with a delightfully handcrafted, luxuriant finish that displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order. Decorative natural handle with a tactile, hand-worked finish. Quality leather tanned to an attractive deep caramel hue. Maker's mark to the edge of the handle for Swaine & Adeney, of 185 Piccadilly, London. Handle meets the shaft with a sterling silver collar, hallmark gently worn with use. The collar further engraved with a monogram, reading W.P.N. - a pleasingly personal touch. Distinctive plaited shaft presents a fascinating textured finish.
