Description
An 18th-Century oak long case clock by Paxton of St Neots. The 12 inch painted break-arch dial signed Paxton St Neots with Roman numerals. The eight-day two train movement striking on a bell. A superb oak case with inlaid shell paterae and swan neck pediment. All in good working order.
John Paxton was a documented watch and clockmaker located in St Neots in the early 18th Century. The business was continued by his son Joseph.
