A Delightful George V Silver Buttonhole/ Lapel Flower Holder

A delightful piece of practical silver, dating from the reign of George V. This is a hallmarked silver flower holder for a buttonhole or lapel. The body is of flattened cylindrical shape with an ova, flared rim. This example is unusually fitted with a lightly sprung clip to the inside to hold the stem of the chosen flower securely in place and a small hook to the reverse, helping it stay in the lapel when in use. These unusual silver items were given as gifts for weddings or other occasions when a buttonhole is required. A lovely, usable collector's piece. Hallmarks :- Clear and readable.
