Description
Issued by the Royal Mint on the occasion of the Festival of Britain in 1951. On the obverse is the bare head of George VI and below the artist’s initials H. P. ( Thomas Humphrey Piaget). Marked five shillings.
On the reverse St. George on horseback wearing helmet and cape holding a sword; below horse a fallen dragon with a lance it it’s side. The date 1951 and artists initials B. P. Benedetto Pistrucci.
The edge with Latin inscription Mdcccli civium industria floret civitas Mcmli. (1851 by the industry of its people the state flourishes 1951)
