A Stunning 19th Century Italian Parquetry Centre or Occasional Table, from the Rolo region famous for it’s fine marquetry. It is a rare piece, with the table top flipping to reveal a Hidden lockable Writing Slope, fitted with leather slope and various compartments. It has its original key and in fine working order. The top itself is intricately inlaid with various woods; maple, walnut, cherry, mahogany, in a fantastic starburst design with star medallion and decorated border with trailing foliage decoration. It stands on a turned baluster pedestal with scroll tripod supports. Size is approx 70.5cm (h) x 72 cm diameter. In all, It is in very good condition for it’s age and delicacy. Most of the marquetry is intact with a small degree of veneer lifting in places and slight discolouration consistent with its age ( please examine photos carefully as I have tried to show areas that are not perfect) This does not detract from its overall beauty and workmanship!
