A Remarkable 19th Century Sculptured Rosewood & Buckhorn Hatstand

This remarkable and extremely rare hatstand / porte manteau is quite something. Exquisitely crafted from rosewood and buckhorn this rare Austrian / German hatstand is simply more, much more. The craftsman ship on display is of the highest calibre. The veins running the length of the stem haven’t been added, but skilfully carved, when time simply wasn’t an issue. Everything about this has been executed with a deft touch and confidence, to create this wonderful piece of sculpture. Expanding on the rarity of this item, only one example can be found, which was sold by Christies Paris in 2012. It was part of the Hélène Rochas Estate.
