A Superb Pair of Victorian Full Height Corinthian Column Candlesticks

A fabulous pair of silver candlesticks dating from the end of the Victorian period, with connections to Newcastle. These excellent examples are of full height Corinthian column design, with acanthus leaf motifs in the Art Nouveau style. The columns are of attractive panelled design and are free from engraving. To the stepped and weighted bases is charming bead decoration, which is delightfully repeated to the sconces, which are removeable and also fully hallmarked. Whilst being assayed at the London office the candlesticks are made by Reid & Sons, who's workshops were found in Grey Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. Silver candlesticks are always in demand and these wonderful, rare examples are as practical as they are decorative. Hallmarks :- Clear, matching and readable. Full marks to the sconces.
