Description
We have for sale the perfect gift for the lover of silver jewellery. A very attractive and unusually heavy Smith & Ewen WW2 period adjustable solid silver bangle or bracelet. Smith and Ewen silver is quite hard to find, they were silversmiths based in Frederick Street, Birmingham, but had thier silver hallmarked at the Chester assay office.
This lovely bracelet consisting of a silver band chased with a lovely foliate engraving and fabricated such that it could be adjusted to fit multiple wrist sizes up to 7.75 inches (20cm). This particular bracelet is one of the harder to find larger heavier examples consisting of band that stands 1 inch (2.5cm) high and consequently the bracelet weighs a heavy 32g (just over 1 Troy ounce). The bracelet/bangle carries full English hallmarks for Chester 1942, alongmakers marks for Smith & Ewen.
This bracelet is in a very good condition although there is some very slight rubbing of the makers mark and surface wear commensurate with its age.
