Alan Martin Gard 18ct Gold Turquoise and Diamond Cocktail Ring, London 1980

A spectacular vintage turquoise and diamond cocktail ring by the celebrated British jewellery designer Alan Martin Gard, fully hallmarked for London 1980. Handcrafted in substantial 18 carat yellow gold, the ring is centred upon a beautifully smooth oval cabochon turquoise in a wonderfully vivid shade of blue. Its purity of colour provides a striking contrast against the warmth of the richly polished yellow gold. The turquoise is embraced by an elaborate network of interlacing gold tendrils, set at intervals with thirteen sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds. Their estimated combined weight is approximately 0.40 carat, assessed as approximately H colour and VS clarity. The intricate pierced openwork flows seamlessly from the central setting, down the shoulders and around the shank. This continuous sculptural design gives the ring a captivating appearance from every angle and is a superb demonstration of Alan Martin Gard’s imaginative approach to fine jewellery. Although impressively substantial, the ring has been thoughtfully constructed to sit beautifully and comfortably on the finger.
