It was made for a High-Ranking British officer posted to the Far East during his tours of duty. This is a high-quality piece and would have been made in a prestige workshop to be able to construct this chest to this standard. Under this drawer is a further 3 graduated drawers all with flush brass handles and line inlay. To each side there is a good brass swing carrying handle.
