This is a fabulous Anglo-Indian carved hardwood elephant table which dates from around 1880. The table has magnificent elephant heads with full trunks as supports, complete with bone tusks and eyes. The table top is deeply and expertly carved with scenes of people and elephants. The heads of the elephant head supports are also decoratively carved to show the elephants in ceremonial dress. The table is a a good size measuring 63 cms in height, the top being 92 cms by 52 cms and depth including the elephant heads 59 cms. This is a very decorative and characterful piece, a real one-off.
