Also marked / certified for the diamonds. Very unusual solitaire ring with scalloped shoulders and a gallery mount. Dates to middle part of the 19th Century c1860s. Simple elegance designed to show off the diamond which is securely set in a 6 claw platinum mount. Absolutely stunning in the light. This ring will be fully professionally polished before dispatch. In olden times the alloying of gold left it too soft to mount stones in effectively. For this reason other metals were used to provide a more secure setting - in this instance platinum. Gemstones: Natural rose cut diamond, D Colour, VVSI1 Clarity, 0.375 carats. A VERY high quality antique diamond. Width across setting is 5 mm. Width at the back is 1.6 mm. Height of gallery is 5.2mm. It is only my opinion but I feel antique items that are polished too much lose some of the character.
