This is a beautiful and original early 18th-century Chinese Kangxi Period Porcelain Imari Bowl. Dating to the Kangxi period (1662–1722), the finely potted bowl has deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to a gently everted rim. It is beautifully decorated in the traditional Chinese Imari palette of rich iron-red, underglaze cobalt-blue and gilt, with the exterior painted throughout with attractive leafy flowering blooms and decorative panels. The interior is similarly decorated with delicate floral sprigs, while the central well features a further floral composition enclosed within a decorative border. A wonderfully decorative example of 18th-century Chinese export porcelain, displaying beautifully and retaining a particularly attractive combination of colour and character.
