Penderyn Antiques are a family run business residing in an old Welsh chapel in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We source and restore a wide range of furniture, antiques, interiors and collectables. We have no specific style that we adhere to, (if we like it, we’ll buy it!) but we do have a keen interest in early Welsh country furniture and unusual decorative items.
At Penderyn Antiques, we express an indebtedness to those nameless joiners who worked with wood so long ago before plastics and the age of automation. For in building furniture with integrity; so that it will last hundreds of years, they have been our mentors. Their work remains a testament to their commitment to their craft and excellence. Wood is the most used of all our natural resources. We have a duty to recycle, reuse, adapt and preserve it. We must use wood to create furniture that has longevity and combat the ‘throwaway’ society…even though it does grow on trees..”

Description
An antique late 18th century oak side table, of lovely compact proportions and simple form. Constructed in oak, the table has a pleasing warm colour and naturally aged patina throughout. It features a single drawer with turned wooden handles, raised on four turned legs united by a lower stretcher, with a broad plank top above. A particularly useful and versatile piece which would work well as a side table, bedside table or occasional table.

In good antique condition, commensurate with age and use. The oak has a pleasing colour and well-developed aged patina. The top features ring marks as pictured, as well as various marks, scratches and areas of wear throughout, with noticeable wear and signs of use to the lower section and feet. The feet show wear commensurate with age. The table remains solid and structurally sound, with the drawer opening and closing correctly. Overall, a pleasing example.
