Here we have a lovely Antique Sterling Silver Tea Strainer from the 1920s. It comes in a gift bag and would be a lovely present for a tea lover.
The strainer is made of solid Sterling Silver and has a lovely rim and handle to rest on a cup. The handle has a very pretty scroll design and the bowl is quite big for a strainer and would hold quite a lot of tea leaves.
It was made by Cooper Brothers & Sons it was hallmarked for Sheffield in 1925. The makers mark and hallmarks are on the rim. It also has S1891 imprinted on the underside of the rim.
The silver is shiny with a few spots of tarnish particularly to the underside of the strainer. The handle has a tiny tear where it joins the rims on the top but this doesn’t go through to the base and is very secure.
It's solid for its size weighing 44g. It measures 11.2cm in length (4 3/8 inches). The diameter of the sieve bowl is 5.9cm (2 1/4 inches).
