Penderyn Antiques are a family run business residing in an old Welsh chapel in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park. We source and restore a wide range of furniture, antiques, interiors and collectables. We have no specific style that we adhere to, (if we like it, we’ll buy it!) but we do have a keen interest in early Welsh country furniture and unusual decorative items.
At Penderyn Antiques, we express an indebtedness to those nameless joiners who worked with wood so long ago before plastics and the age of automation. For in building furniture with integrity; so that it will last hundreds of years, they have been our mentors. Their work remains a testament to their commitment to their craft and excellence. Wood is the most used of all our natural resources. We have a duty to recycle, reuse, adapt and preserve it. We must use wood to create furniture that has longevity and combat the ‘throwaway’ society…even though it does grow on trees..”

Description
An antique oak tilt-top side table or wine table, of useful and well-proportioned form. Constructed in oak, the table has a rectangular plank top with rounded corners, raised on an elegant turned column with a shaped tripod base and scrolling feet. The original tilt-top mechanism remains, allowing the top to be raised when not in use. The top retains a lovely warm oak tone and aged patina, with visible historic rung marks and areas of fading adding to its character. A practical and versatile occasional table, suitable for use as a side table or drinks table.

In good antique condition, commensurate with age and use. The top has various marks, scratches, historic rung marks and areas of fading throughout, with a lovely warm oak colour and patina. There are small historic areas of loss to the edge of the table, as pictured. The tilt-top mechanism remains present and functional. The turned base and scrolling feet are solid and stable, and the table remains structurally sound. Overall, a lovely example with attractive colour and patina.
