Description
This is a stunning, fine and impressive antique 3.88 carat diamond and 0.04 carat emerald, 9 carat yellow gold and silver set butterfly brooch; part of our antique jewellery collections. This stunning, fine and impressive antique brooch has been crafted in 9 ct yellow gold with a silver setting. The antique brooch has been modelled in the form of a butterfly. The abdomen of the butterfly is embellished with an Old European cut diamond, in subtle relief to the remaining thorax. The thorax incorporates four further pavé set diamonds, graduating in size dependant on location. The head of the butterfly displays a silver pavé set Old European cut diamond and incorporates yellow gold collet set 0.04ct round faceted cut emeralds representing the eyes and tips to the antennae. The pierced decorated, extended wings are embellished with a total of forty-eight Old European cut diamonds, completing the design. The brooch is fitted with a tremblant setting, allowing for realistic movement of the butterfly; this is a fine feature and indicates the high quality of the piece. This antique brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and security clasp. The insect brooch is supplied with an independent diamond and gemstone grading report card. This antique brooch has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton Xl2 Analyzer) and verified as 9 ct gold and silver. "Rather than regarding inclusions in coloured stones as harmful, in small sizes and numbers that do not in any way detract from their beauty, they should be regarded as adding to desirability, for they provide identifying characteristics."
