Description
A sweet English Arts & Crafts (c.1900) oak occasional table of light square form. The top is richly carved in low relief with foliate and scrolling ornament around a central motif, all raised slender square-section legs with shaped corner brackets forming shallow arches.
Beautifully embodying the Arts & Crafts ethos of honest construction, simplicity of form and hand-crafted ornament. The underside of the top retains traces of an abandoned carving layout design, evidence of the hand-led Arts & Crafts working process.
Presented in very good antique condition with a rich colour and patina, with some minor repairs to some of the corner brackets. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
