Antique Carved Hardwood Indian Screen c.1910

This is very decorative Indian hardwood three fold screen which has a lovely colour and a very attractive design. The screen is beautifully inlaid throughout with mother of pearl and has beautiful decorative mashrabiya beaded panels. It has attractive calligraphic carving in an eastern script and interestingly, a small enclave with a door which can be opened to convene with someone on the opposite side of the screen or to house a candle or lamp. The screen is a really pretty decorative item that adds character to any room setting. It is very much in the Arts and Crafts Liberty style and could possibly have been retained by them.
