This is an antique cheese wheel carrier. An English, handpainted walnut dairy tray, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
A fascinating cheese wheel box, with a charming painted finish, displays a desirable aged patina, with a gently time-worn appearance. Walnut staves are held securely within cast iron strapping. Hand-painted finish in the distinctive Roses & Castles manner, favoured by canal boats. Ideal for English and Swiss cheese wheels, such as Cheddar, Stilton, Emmental and Raclette.
This is a fascinating antique cheese wheel carrier, adding a cheerful foliate appearance to the walnut stave form. Delivered ready for the home.
