This is an antique cocktail cabinet. An English, mahogany and boxwood counterweighted dry bar, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1895.
Exceptional cabinetry with a striking appearance and superb mechanical interest. Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order. Select stocks present fine grain interest and rich russet hues. Lighter boxwood inlay adds a sophistication to the finish throughout.
A treat of functionality, the fold-out top activating the counterweighted serving area. Concealed until required, a glass caddy rises from within the frame at the back of the cabinet. Hosting a pair of tumbler glasses within a brass stanchion, beneath a rack for eight shot glasses. Each side of the folding top hosts a recessed bottle platform with raised plinth behind.
Upper lock mechanism engraved for Albert Barker, maker and silversmith to Queen Victoria — key absent. Faux drawer front elegantly dressed with a pair of circular brass pulls, accentuated with bead detail. The fall-front fascia conceals a generous cabinet, held securely by a renowned Bramah lock — key present. The fall articulates smoothly upon a striking pair of brass support arms. Internal pressure lever releases the lower storage drawer when the fall front is opened.
A fine antique cocktail cabinet, crafted in the late Victorian period with the delectable sensibilities of the middle Georgian period, this exceptional example is sure to enhance any lounge or dining room. Solid joints and construction, delivered ready for the home.
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee with all of our antiques.
