This is an antique country housekeeper's cabinet. An English, oak and elm dresser base, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800. Wonderful Georgian cabinetry with appealing proportion that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select oak stocks present fine grain interest. Warm caramel hues accentuate the figuring. Arrangement of two drawers over a pair of wide cabinet doors. Field panelling adds interest to the fascia, with a vanity panel to centre. Each drawer dressed with a pair of brass drop handles over batwing backplates. Drawer boxes crafted from nicely figured elm. Cabinet doors open upon delightful H-shaped butterfly hinges. Each door replete with inset, working locks — key present. Tapering lower valence above a quartet of block feet.
