Antique Dish Scott Brothers of Southwick Sunderland

This is a beautiful rare Scott Brothers transfer printed dish in yellow slip with the very decorative Paisley pattern. The plate has lovely contrasting colours and a pretty shape. It is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. Circa 1850. Thomas Pearson Scott was said to have invented the technique of using yellow slip instead of ink to apply the transfers. He carried out the process in secret in a separate room and when he died in 1864 the production of this type of ware ceased.
