Exceptional, fine and impressive antique Edwardian English sterling silver tea tray made by Reid & Sons; an addition to our silver tray collection This exceptional antique Edwardian silver tray, in sterling standard, has a rectangular shaped form with rounded corners. The surface of this sterling silver serving tray is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved coat of arms depicting a bend charged with two mullets/stars, between two buildings, all surmounted with an impressive mantling and the crest of out of a tower a demi-ram holding a mullet of five points, pierced. The surface of this Edwardian silver serving tray is further embellished with the motto 'Malo mori quam foedari' - I would rather die than be dishonoured. The raised rounded border of this antique silver tray is ornamented with applied gadroon decoration to the rim, accented with leaf motifs. This antique silver tray is fitted with a fine pair of cast sterling silver handles, embellished with further gadroon and leaf ornamentation. This exceptional tray, crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmiths Thomas Arthur Reid, Francis James Langford & Christian Leopold Reid of Reid & Sons, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.
