This is an antique embroidered footstool. An English, gilt brass fireside or bedroom stool, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850. Fascinating example of Victorian craftsmanship from the time of the Great Exhibition. It displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Substantial gilt brass frame finished with a deep golden hue. Needlepoint embroidered cushion in good, clean condition with foliate pattern. Square proportion with a comfortable foot height of 19.5cm (7.75''). Ornate show frame accentuated with relief cast oak leave. It stands upon a quartet of splayed feet with scrolled toes.
