This fine antique George 1 sterling silver caster was made by specialist maker Charles Adam and hallmarked in London 1715. It is in very good condition and has been made with a good gauge of silver. There is overall decoration and hallmarks to the base are clearly struck but those to the pull off lid are rubbed. The cartouche is lightly engraved with scrolled initials surmounted by an eagle (?). The lid has a variety of attractive piercing decoration. The caster is of the higher quality Britannia silver and clearly marked as such. Overall a lovely silver caster from a well respected Georgian maker.
