This is a superbly decorated antique Georgian sterling silver teapot made by William Bateman 11 and hallmarked in London 1835. It is in very good condition and clearly hallmarked both to the base and the lid which is topped with a cast silver rose finial. The teapot sits firmly on 4 cast silver feet and there is a substantial handle with heat insulators and thumbpiece. The teapot is ornately decorated with pagodas, trees, a river, boats as well as scrolls and laurel leaves. There are 2 vacant cartouches incorporated in the design. A fine piece of high quality from this member of the famous Bateman family of silversmiths.
