An exceptional, fine and impressive, large antique George IV York sterling silver platter/centrepiece; an addition to our collection of silver decorative trays.
This exceptional and large antique George IV York sterling silver display tray/platter has an oval shaped form.
The convex surface of the silver tray is embellished with an impressive later chased floral spray design; the convex nature of the centre creates a well to the outer circumference.
The domed border is ornamented with further floral and foliate decoration, accented with a paralleling scalloped rim.
This exceptional antique silver platter was crafted by James Barber & Co in York, England; large pieces of silver bearing the York town mark are rare to the market.

This antique decorative platter is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The later chased decoration is all very sharp.
Full hallmarks struck to the anterior surface of the domed border are all very clear.
