Antique 18th century Georgian chest of drawers in oak, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and the timeless elegance of the Georgian period. The chest features five graduated drawers in total, arranged as two short drawers over three long drawers, all fitted with brass swan neck handles on circular backplates and oval brass escutcheons. The drawer fronts are attractively crossbanded, and the crossbanded top has a moulded edge. The front corners are flanked by quarter columns, adding a refined architectural detail, and the chest is raised on a moulded base with classic bracket feet. The oak displays a stunning figured grain and a warm, rich colour with lovely patina throughout. A very desirable and solidly constructed example, presented in good condition.
