Antique Georgian Silver Lidded Glass Jar

This is a lovely antique silver lidded jar from the early 1800s. It would be perfect to use for creams or for storing small items in such as vitamins or rings. It comes in a pretty green gift bag and would be a great present. It was made by Archibald Douglas and it was Hallmarked in London in 1827. The Hallmarks are on the underside of the lid. The lid made of Sterling Silver and it lifts off easily. The sides and base are made of glass and has 12 sides. Dodecagon shaped jars were very popular in the Georgian era, as it reflects light well and is tactile to hold. The Silver is shiny with a little tarnish in the lined rim. There’s a couple of tiny pinprick dents to the lid. The glass has a number of tiny chips to the edge of the base and a couple of very small ones to the sides. The lid weighs 14g. It measures 4cm diameter (1 1/2 inches). The height is 3.6cm (just under 1 1/2 inches).
