Description
Muffineers are basically small casters or shakers and their name is derived from their original purpose which was to sprinkle spices or sugar onto muffins. There were several Georgian silversmiths who specialised in making these and one was Thomas Daniell who made this one. It was hallmarked in London and although the date letter is rubbed we know that Daniell was manufacturing from 1775 to 1804.
It is in very good condition with just minor usage, the pull off top is beautifully pierced and fits tightly. The muffineer sits firmly on a raised circular base and apart from the date letter hallmarks are clear (NB any shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).
