This large and attractive antique sterling silver strainer was made by Charles Aldridge and Henry Green. It was hallmarked in London 1769. It is a lovely piece in very good condition with no repair or damage. It could equally be used for lemon or indeed tea but it was designed as a fruit strainer, oranges, lemons etc for the making of punch which was a very popular drink in the 18th century. A solid piece made with a good gauge of silver and hallmarks are clear to the attractively pierced bowl and also to both of the stylish handles.
