This is an antique half hall stand. An Austrian, bentwood reception coat tree by Thonet, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900. Fine example in charming half form for close wall placement that displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Bentwood skilfully worked into the evocative four hook form. Presents deep caramel hues and fine grain interest. The tall upstand presents a turned finial, at a height of 6' 5'' (79''). Set of hooks follow a serpentine route to include useful underhooks, for hats or umbrellas. Wide trio of splayed legs to the base, with scroll motif reaching up the support stand. Engraved to the base for Thonet, originally German but headquartered in Austria in period.
